Day 6

The group was given the opportunity for a real sleep in this morning (the chance to not wake up when the bell rang for morning prayer). Most of the group took the opportunity and rose at 7.30am.
The morning was taken up with time spent at the brother's care facility. We arrived about 45 minutes before Mass and the group joined the very many early arrivers for an extended singing practice. The Mass itself was incredibly charismatic... wonderful singing and lots of clapping (I'm a day behind on photos. They will be coming)
At the end of the Mass our group was applauded with great ceremony and then they proceeded to teach the locals the actions to one of the brothers' songs. A few of the brothers gott up as well and showed the kids and assembly how to really move to the groove.
After Mass, we assisted with the feeding of the child residents. It was very touching to see our kids assisting those who are so much less fortunate. I spent the entire time nursing young John the Baptist and visiting the Men's section.
After a very quick trip we headed off on an afternoon excursion. We drove about 2 hours (corrected!!!!) to the ruins of a 16th century church from which we could see one of the Philippines active volcanoes. We climbed around the ruins and then most enjoyed the opportunity, in this tourist destination, to shop for souvenirs. It's amazing how far $2.50 can go...
We then visited a pilgrim site with a very large outdoors Stations of the Cross. The walk around these stations was about 7 kms up and down mountain (in the dark).
We headed for home and went to a local restaurant for dinner. My eyes lit up when I saw a pork chop and a piece of steak.
Everyone arrived home at around 10pm very tired... Another day of building awaits us... and we're up at 5.15am again tomorrow.

Again, I'll get plenty of photos uploaded soon.
