Again, we began with an early rise, 5.30am. The kids were especially tired after a long day and late night yesterday and reaching this time in our journey. Thankfully, the brothers looking after us are also beginning to tire (hopefully not of us). As a result, they offered us the opportunity to do only a half day's work. We accepted!!!!!
The morning was spent building again. First, the kids had to load 400 besser blocks onto our truck. Arriving, they had to unload. Then the work began! We split into three groups. One filled bags with sand. One fetched buckets of water. The last mixed concrete (naturally, Caitlin was in this group). As the morning progressed we also helped with spreading the mortar and constructing the walls. The kids worked so well together, rotating around the jobs. A number had to take longer pauses and some retired early. We were so impressed to see the walls half built when we finished and the locals were amazed at how hard pur kids worked (though that did not encourage them to assist).
As we left, kids were arriving home from school for lunch. They would not let us leave without leading them in song.
After lunch, we finally got a rest time. I had to wake them and they actually looked like they were in a coma.
The first year brothers had challenged us to a soccer game. So, the kids took to the field even though a thunder storm broke out two minutes before. It rained for the entire game but that did not dampen the enthusiasm. Sadly, we lost.
After showers, we went to the school for their afternoon programming. To stop kids roaming the streets, they invite them to an evening of song and learning Christian values. We were blessed by many performances and then performed ourselves. It was great fun.
After dinner, the kids washed clothes. Following night prayer and rosary, they taught some of the brothers a special dance for our impending farewell
